Multiplex to build Monash University $81 million Biomedical Learning Building

Multiplex will build the $81 million Biomedical Learning and Teaching Building for Monash University at its Clayton campus.

Designed by architects Denton Corker Marshall, the new building will provide a total of 11,400 square metres of learning space for Biomedical Science students.

Laboratories are built around a central area with smaller-scale labs for 60 to 120 students. The four laboratories can also be combined to provide a space for up to 240 students.

The Biomedical Learning and Teaching Building will also feature a 1,200 square metre informal hub that can accommodate 400 students.

Some labs will be built to Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) and the façade will be pressure tested.

A hanging steel staircase that will be suspended from a skylight truss and connect the various levels of the facility.

Construction of the Biomedical Learning and Teaching Building is set to commence immediately. The project is scheduled for completion in November, 2018.
