Imagine for a moment that the tower was not part of this development - how would we evaluate the podium as a building in its own right? Is it beautiful / striking? Does it create the fine grain, lively street level experience so needed in an area like this?

It is a pretty bad podium, but southbank is cursed by podiums because no developments can generate millions of dollars a year to run basement waterpumps like Crown.

Although this could have had a wrap around the carpark if it were done properly.

The podium is it's weakest aspect and the car parking is part of the problem.
