From last month:

Construction at WRAP apartments in Melbourne is now at the half way point, with concrete poured on level 22 of the 41 storey development and completion remaining on track for April 2014.

The building is progressing well with the builder Contexx’s unique use of two storey pre-cast columns and 6 storey perimeter screens to assist in speeding up the construction program. WRAP is also quite unique in that the piling work included some of the longest CFA piling ever done in Australia.

The development at 133 - 139 City Road consists of 300 apartments, with over 90% of the apartments now sold. Whilst WRAP’s construction is only at the half way point, the construction team are already enjoying spectacular views over the Melbourne CBD, Southbank and the Port Phillip Bay.

WRAP apartments has an ultra modern architectural design but retains a very special heritage focus with the retention of the heritage façade and introduction of 60 year old bricks as a special feature in the internal walls of the café and ground floor foyer areas, making for a very striking design feature.

City of Port Phillip will this week indicate that it has sufficient reason to object to two pending projects in Port Melbourne. 17 Rocklea Drive and 365-391 Plummer Street are both within the Wirraway Precinct of Fishermans Bend, and both projects are under the authority of the Minister for Planning.

Spring Street has released details of a large shutdown of the Pakenham/Cranbourne and Frankston lines which will allow workers to complete major upgrades to the rail infrastructure. The work is required to allow for the introduction of the new High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMTs) and will involve upgrading power & catenary, signalling and communications equipment in the Dandenong (Pakenham/Cranbourne) corridor.
