On Friday night, I found myself at Hell of the North in Fitzroy! Food was great for the $65/head "Feed Me" menu, however found the the service was not very attentive and at some points a little rude. But definitely will go there again :)

Had the pleasure of going to the Lakehouse in Daylesford last Saturday night, and I must admit that the food was exquisite! So tasty and beautiful. If you can get over there for dinner, I highly recommend it :)

Not exactly in Melbourne, but went to Gigi's of Beechworth on Saturday night and had some fantastic local food, definitely recommended if you are ever in Beechworth. Also definitely worth heading up to Rutherglen as well if you are in the area to get a Parkers Pie! Excellent pies :)

Went to Portello Rosso last Saturday night for a fine dining experience and was not disappointed! yes

Spanish cuisine (Tapas mostly), we ordered the Chef's choice (6 - 8 dishes) and found it all delicious.

Very similar to Mo Vida (another great restaurant) in style.

The drinks list consisted mainly of Spanish wines.

The address:

Portello Rosso Tapas & Jamon Bar

15 Warburton Lane

Melbourne

^^At Portello Rosso again, just had the paella mixta (meat and seafood), it was damn delicious!!

Washed it down with a Spanish tempranillo, the perfect companion to the paella. enlightened yessmiley

Our latest fine dining adventure was at Casa Ciuccio at 13-15 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy.

Taking its name from the Neapolitan 'dialect' for donkey, Casa Ciuccio is about savouring flavours designed to snack on and share.

We had the Chef's Choice tasting menu and were not disappointed.

Mediterranean (Spanish,Portuguese and Greek) food, mainly seafood.

Loved it, so we're planning to return soon. smiley

Love my pasta and two of the best pasta dishes you would find anywhere in Melbourne can be found in one restaurant:

This photo of Sosta Cucina is courtesy of TripAdvisor

sosta cucina  12 Errol Street North Melbourne Phone: 03 9329 2882 [email protected]

I highly recommend what I consider their signature dishes:

Linguine with blue swimmer crab, E.V. olive oil, garlic, parsley, golden breadcrumbs and bottarga

PAPPARDELLE CON RAGU D’AGNELLO $22 / 29

Fresh pappardelle with a slow cooked lamb ragu with pecorino Romano

Another fine dining experience last night at the Spanish restaurant MoVida original at Hosier Lane.

I just love a good burger and one of the best; Andrew's just opened a second restaurant near our place:

77 Years On, Andrew’s Unveils Second Store

BY TIM GREY 17th August 2016

Don’t expect any bloody brioche, mate.

Greg Pappas has been flipping burgers so long, he does it in his sleep. “I started when I was 12, and I’ve been flipping burgers since then,” he says. “After a smashing busy night, you go to sleep, and there are people ordering in your dreams.”

But the grill at Andrew’s Burgers has been firing even longer than Pappas has, opening way back in 1939. And now, there’s finally a second outlet for the Albert Park institution, with a new store opening around the corner from the Queen Victoria Market. “We just woke up one day and thought we’ll give it a go,” says Pappas.

With a larger space and a new kitchen, Pappas has room for booths, new neon and a custom-made cast-iron grill. “It’s a three-quarter-inch, cast-iron plate,” he explains. “Because it’s a pouring metal, it gets even better as time goes by. It keeps the heat very consistently.”

Development & Planning

Wednesday, December 13, 2017 - 12:00
The swirl of development activity in Footscray has found another gear as new projects are submitted for approval, or are on the verge of beginning construction. Two separate planning applications have been advertised by Maribyrnong City Council; their subsequent addition to the Urban Melbourne Project Database has seen the overall number of apartment developments within Footscray in development swell to 40.

Policy, Culture & Opinion

The marriage of old and new can be a difficult process, particularly when the existing structure has intrinsic heritage value. In previous times Fitzroy's 237 Napier Street served as the home of furniture manufacturer C.F. Rojo and Sons. Taking root during 1887, Christobel Rojo oversaw operations though over time the site would become home to furniture manufacturer Thonet.

The former site of John Batman's home, Batman's Hill is entering the final stages of its redevelopment. Collins Square's final tower has begun its skyward ascent, as has Lendlease's Melbourne Quarter Commercial and Residential precinct already. Melbourne Quarter's first stage is at construction and involves a new 12-storey home for consultancy firm Arup along with a skypark.

Transport & Design

Friday, December 15, 2017 - 11:00
Infrastructure Victoria unveiled a new round of research into its larger programme of work dealing with managing transport demand. The authority contracted Arup and KPMG to produce the Melbourne Activity Based Model (MABM) and while it is new, it is considered fit for purpose in the strategic context.

Sustainability & Environment

Tuesday, October 24, 2017 - 12:00
Cbus Property's office development for Medibank at 720 Bourke Street in Docklands recently became the first Australian existing property to receive a WELL Certification, Gold Shell and Core rating. The WELL rating goes beyond sustainable building features with a greater focus on the health and well-being of a building's occupants.
