How about a Preview button when you post comments on this forum, would come in very handy.

I noticed that in my latest culture article Titillating Tivoli Theatre, that the main image showing the Tivoli has gone from portrait format to landscape, cutting the top and bottom out. The accompanying text has also been omitted:

The New Opera House (Tivoli Theatre) shortly after its opening in 1901.

Original raw photograph from The State Library of Victoria, restored by me.

Can this be fixed?

Do I need to send you the original image again or can I edit it?

I also noticed that editing by UM in the first paragraph of my article has created a grammatical error as well.

We seem to have a problem with images posted with image tags, etc, on this forum.

Example below:

For some reason the image no longer can be seen.

I've edited the Historic Photo of the day thread by replacing all tagged files and posting them in another way.

I don't have the time to do it to everything I've posted.

Can someone please fix it so they can be seen again.

l have notice this morning Sunday 18th of May, that l can no-longer see who is online when l click onto Forum, and stroll down to the bottom of the page may l ask why, is there something wrong with the website, no matter whether l am browsing on my Desk-Top computer or IPAD Air Tablet.

When l use my IPAD Air and browse the website, l have to completely shut it down or turn it off, just to see the latest post on here or it won't show me the latest post at all.

Where l use my desk-top computer l can see the latest post, so who knows if there could be problems with my IPAD Air or the website.

Hi Peter, I'm one of the site admins here.

Discovered that BBCode use was disabled for a text format following an upgrade; this was recently re-enabled.

Your existing photo threads should now render as before.

Hi Bluey66, site admin here.

The statistics block - which appears at the end of the forum list - should now be appearing again.

Regarding your IPad Air issue, can you indicate where on the site (with a URL, preferably) you are browsing to see the latest post?

^^ Thanks Geoff, but now all the images are doubling up as can be seen in my previous post, can you fix that too (or should I say two, lol).

I have noticed that all recent image posts by Ryan (24/5 and onwards) can't be seen by me.

All I get is a box with a question mark.

Is it just me?

If not, can you please look into this Geoff, it could be that Ryan has changed his host and it's not working as well as the previous one.

Hi Peter,

Ryan's recent images are hosted at AciaNet Images (http://img.acianetmedia.com/, http://aciai.me/), which appears to be unresponsive at the moment.

Any outage or availability problems for that service are usually mentioned in LightPath Creative's blog.

Problems with viewing Ryan's photos again.

Box with question mark is all I see in recent posts, not the latest though, they seem to be fine.

.....And when are we going to have more emoticons to choose from. angry

Hi Peter,

It is a similar problem to what was experienced back in May. This time around, the aciai.me and lightpath.net.au domains are not resolving to IP addresses.

The image hosting provider - AciaNet Images - is outside of our control.

Hi

I've been attempting to update some of my settings, name, profile picture and such.

When I attempt to save these changes I receive a message stating "The email address ... is not allowed"

I'm not sure what is going wrong here. It's a legitimate e-mail address that I use. I even tried a secondary one, that didn't work either.

Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your post. We have server rules configured on some email domains as an anti-spam measure.

I've sent you a private message requesting further details.

Forum section of the website has been having issues for the last 2 weeks.

It doesn't show new posts correctly. Read post message still appears as unread. It becomes very hard to track what posts have been read & what hasn't been.

Are there any issues? Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

I have tried to create another username, tried different browsers to no avail.

Please check and fix this issue.

Thanks kindly.

Thanks for your report. I've recently adjusted page caching for forum posts, which should address this issue. Let us know if it continues to be encountered.

Why has the 5 star rating system in the NEWS section been removed?

I liked it as it provided a form of audience participation.

......Still waiting for more emoticons in the forum section as well.

Do you have plans to make the site more mobile friendly? I would visit more often if it was easier to use from an iphone.

Alastair Taylor's picture

Hi Pete,

Re: rating system - it was a legacy component from a theme far gone which in effect actually does nothing on the site - the best type of audience participation is commenting and we're already starting to see higher volumes of comments since the rating system was removed

Re: emoticons/forum in general, we are keeping a very close eye on a new Drupal (CMS which runs this site) forum module which will add a lot more features compared to what we currently have, there are some example sites using the new tech listed on the module's Drupal page here: https://www.drupal.org/project/harmony_core - we'll switch over to Harmony when the module progresses a little further.

Hi Shane:

Re: mobile friendly, can you clarify what the current issue is? We do have a responsive regime working for desktop/mobile and tablet at present - which areas of the site do you find are not that mobile-friendly?

Cheers

Hi all, apologies for the outages today.

Put simply we're somewhat over our current host and are currently canvassing our options.

We'll be making a decision soon on where to potentially move to and hopefully thereafter we can put all this shit behind us.

The swirl of development activity in Footscray has found another gear as new projects are submitted for approval, or are on the verge of beginning construction. Two separate planning applications have been advertised by Maribyrnong City Council; their subsequent addition to the Urban Melbourne Project Database has seen the overall number of apartment developments within Footscray in development swell to 40.

The marriage of old and new can be a difficult process, particularly when the existing structure has intrinsic heritage value. In previous times Fitzroy's 237 Napier Street served as the home of furniture manufacturer C.F. Rojo and Sons. Taking root during 1887, Christobel Rojo oversaw operations though over time the site would become home to furniture manufacturer Thonet.

The former site of John Batman's home, Batman's Hill is entering the final stages of its redevelopment. Collins Square's final tower has begun its skyward ascent, as has Lendlease's Melbourne Quarter Commercial and Residential precinct already. Melbourne Quarter's first stage is at construction and involves a new 12-storey home for consultancy firm Arup along with a skypark.

Transport & Design

Friday, December 15, 2017 - 11:00
Infrastructure Victoria unveiled a new round of research into its larger programme of work dealing with managing transport demand. The authority contracted Arup and KPMG to produce the Melbourne Activity Based Model (MABM) and while it is new, it is considered fit for purpose in the strategic context.

Sustainability & Environment

Tuesday, October 24, 2017 - 12:00
Cbus Property's office development for Medibank at 720 Bourke Street in Docklands recently became the first Australian existing property to receive a WELL Certification, Gold Shell and Core rating. The WELL rating goes beyond sustainable building features with a greater focus on the health and well-being of a building's occupants.
