Inside Melbourne's soaring Premier Tower

Inside Melbourne's soaring Premier Tower
Urban EditorialJanuary 31, 2024PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

When Singaporean developer Fragrance Group completed Premier Tower in 2021, it was one of the tallest buildings in Melbourne.

Premier Tower, soaring 249 metres above Spencer Street, is just shy of 70 levels, a height only reached by a handful of towers in the country.

It was so revered it won the 2021 Emporis Skyscraper Award, ranking 7th among the world's top 10 skyscrapers.

The 780 apartments sit above a seven-level podium which homes the 172-room Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne.

Renowned Melbourne architecture firm Elenberg Fraser attributes Premier's sinuous form to meticulous parametric modelling and extensive research into site-specific and climatic constraints.

The resulting complex form, a vertical cantilever, proves to be the most efficient way to redistribute the building's mass, ensuring optimal structural dispersion, frequency oscillation, and wind resistance.

The project showcases various facade types, including a monumental frameless double-height glass fin facade at the amenities level and shopfronts, a typical curtain wall on the hotel levels, and innovative features like vertical 45-degree glazed louvres to the open pool area.

The bespoke stepped and faceted hybrid facade system with silver reflective glass on residential apartment levels adds to the building's distinctive silhouette.

Apartments within the tower are fully functional and designed to elaborate on space and go with the flow of the tower's curvy floor plate giving every residence a light-filled angle through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Premier Tower's modern apartments floor-to-ceiling glass allows residents to enjoy views of Melbourne from sunrise to nightscape.

Comprising one and two-bedroom types with a study room option for some available floor plans, all units come with exceptional quality finishes, including timber floorings, stone bench tops and Miele appliances.

Lower levels feature honey or chocolate colour schemes, while Premier apartments on level 47 and above offer manuka or mocha schemes.

These timeless palettes provide a backdrop for buyers to create effortlessly elegant homes, complemented by enduring Melbourne views.

The in-house hotel further amplifies the luxurious atmosphere, complemented by a private concierge catering to residents' needs.

Meanwhile, cleverly designed four amenity levels offer a wealth of lifestyle choices, including a swimming pool, gym, garden lounge, outdoor fitness zone, sauna, steam room, games and golf areas, and fully equipped catering kitchens.

Premier apartment residents also have access to an exclusive club and luxury amenities, such as private facilities, bars, dining areas, a theatre, games, and lounges.

Residents on levels 48 and above will have separate lounge areas, private dining, exclusive entertaining, and rotating seating pods with built-in speakers for immersive city views.

Positioned opposite Southern Cross Train Station, Premier Tower provides convenient access to Victoria's extensive transportation network.
