Melbourne-based developer DM Property has strategically entered the Geelong market with its debut project on the Bellarine Peninsula, motif, following the success of their Sandringham townhouse project, Early 3191.

motif represents Geelong's first apartment launch in several years and has already achieved 35 per cent in sales this month.

DM Property Director Brendan Mullen says he couldn't quite believe the York Street site hadn't been a target for developers previously.

"It's a great site. We're near The Esplanade, we're near the hospitality precinct, Deakin University is down the road, and most importantly the Geelong Convention Centre is just coming up. That will start getting built in the next 12-18 months, and that will be neck and neck with the Melbourne Convention Centre," Mullan said.

Mullan says people are now wanting to stay in Geelong

"We're finding people want to stay in Geelong CBD because of good education, a good food and beverage precinct now, employment down here is second to none. A lot of white collar and young professional buyers are getitng into the market."

motif comprises 129 one and two-bedroom apartments within a five-level building designed by renowned architecture firm Rothelowman.

“The site for motif has the advantage of not just being on the edge of the city but also the edge of the bay," Rothelowman Principal Stuart Marsland says.

"Our vision was to provide high-quality spaces for living and working that take advantage of views in all directions."

motif is ideally located at 1 York Street, one street from Western Beach and a 15-minute walk from Pakington Street, where residents can find Woolworths and many local cafes, restaurants, and bars along its length.

Residents can start their mornings with a hike or a run along Bob McGovan Path with views and breeze from the Western Beach.

A coffee stop at Box Office Café is in order, while a delicious brunch is available at Geelong West Social Club, Queen of the West, and King of the Castle Café.

On weekend afternoons, residents can start with a dirty martini at Arborist, followed by the chef’s menu at Felix or Osteria Fiorenza for those who prefer the classics.

Residents can round out their night with a six-minute drive to the Geelong Arts Centre at the Little Malop Street precinct and a nightcap poured by Meet Me at Mary’s before returning home.

Westfield, Market Square Shopping Centre and more local and international cuisine restaurants are also located in the Little Malop Street precinct.

"This really ticks all the boxes for so many people. The location is unbeatable, so close to amenity, the beach, and just a 10-minute walk into the heart of the city," says RPM Group Projects Director Nic Cuni.

Ashby Primary School, The Geelong College and Deakin University are less than two kilometres from motif.

motif is fossil fuel-free, and its electricity consumption is offset by significant solar panelling, making it a 7-star NAThers-rated building.

Apartments at motif start from $480,000. Construction is expected to begin in early 2024.
