The design behind Martin, Brighton's latest apartment development: Five minutes with interior designers, Mim Design
Miriam Fanning is one of the most renowned design specialists in the whole of Australia.
Fanning's MIM Design, which doubles up as an architectural studio as well as an interior design house, has handled designs all across the country, from the new luxury Point Piper apartment project Piper, to Masthead, the Main Beach development being brought to the Gold Coast by the British Royal Family.
Fanning has lent her design eye to the latest project to hit Melbourne's Bayside Brighton, Martin, a new project by the high-end developer EBG.
Combining the vibrancy of its Martin Street location with a considered and timeless design from MIM Design, each of the Martin interiors offer a series of practical and functional living spaces that are complemented by a coastal-inspired palette.
A holistic approach was essential when creating an authentic interior environment for the residents of Martin according to Fanning, who says each of the apartments have been crafted without compromise.
“Located on the edge of Brighton, Martin Street itself is a vibrant location enveloped in prestige and a step away from city access and a short walk to the coastline,” Fanning said.
“Our philosophy drew inspiration from the coastline, the organic natural layering influenced our design referencing the rhythm and undulating movement of the ocean, along with the interfacing rock textures and soft sage greens which naturally hug the surrounding shoreline.
“It was crucial that this building responds to design with a timeless substance ensuring the design settles into its environment, while still paying respect to the distinguished suburb.
With a defined aesthetic, yet open to the stylistic interpretation from every buyer, the interiors interplay with contemporary forms, offering aspects out over verdant planted balconies to the city and water.
Providing a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, floorplans span from 103 sqm through to 141 sqm, each of the Martin apartments evoke a sense of space, which was paramount in MIM’s design.
“It was important that Martin residents experienced a true scale proportion that you would find in an individual home – size proportion and flow of planning were essential when delivering the design of Martin.”
On top of the proportional designs, the two and three-bedroom residences feature natural finishes, such as stone, with the detailing resonating a timeless sensibility, which is clearly evident throughout the master bedrooms and living zones.
“Our key words that describe our design philosophy are authentic, layered, coastline, organic and undulation,” Fanning added.
Martin is expected to attract a range of buyers, from young professionals to families, and even the older rightsizer, with the location offering convenience and an unrivalled lifestyle close to all the best Brighton has to offer.
