WINIM reveal Huntington Residences, Cremorne luxury apartment development
Luxury North Shore developer WINIM is soon to launch its new $42 million Cremorne apartment development, Huntington Residences.
The luxury development at 13-15 Allister Street has been designed by Rothelowman who was inspired by Cremorne's natural beauty.
The design of the rounded shapes of the facade, which impact the interior aesthetic, was influenced by Cremorne's Robertsons Point Lighthouse, echoing a connection to the area's rich history.
The boutique development incorporates the 1937 building designed by Clifford Finch, which is not heritage listed but has heritage significance. The 13 one, two and three-bedroom apartments will be spread across the restored original building and a new adjoining contemporary building.
Huntington is the latest in WINIM's pursuit of adaptive reuse projects. They have a restoration and extension project of a 1905 block at 112-114 Wycombe Road in Neutral Bay, and the restoration and extension of Kirribilli's 1907 Glenferrie Lodge.
Speaking with WINIM Joint Managing Director Justin Kuiters in 2022, he explained that adaptive reuse involves a different approach to development, preserving much of the architectural heritage that has defined the suburb for decades.
"We've secured a number of sites which aren't heritage-listed, but due to their striking street frontage, and unique character from a bygone era, just like council, we are wanting to come up with a clever and creative way of bringing these grand building's into the 21st century," Kuiters said.
"The community and council are favouring adaptive reuse and architectural detailing that complements the street.
"They're more challenging, but you come out with a more bespoke, unique product, catering for two types of buyers, those who are keen on the historical features (cornicing, high ceilings, brickwork etc) , and those who want the more contemporary finishes."
Huntington will be WINIM's second launch in as many months following their late 2023 launch of Flo Northbridge, just seven apartments and five townhomes opposite Northbridge Shore Playing Fields.
